Attention In the Neighborhood
(1) Stop walking your dogs through my flower bed.
(2) Stop riding your bikes through my flower bed.
(3) If you see your kid walking through my flower bed you should beat the crap out of him or her.
(4) I’m sprinkling cayenne pepper throughout the front yard. How’s your dog going to like that the next time it takes a dump on my lawn? Huh?
On Duke
You know, I don’t know whether those lacrosse players raped the stripper they had hired or not. A group of college athletes with alcohol and strippers makes much possible.
But, as time goes on, it seems more and more that the case is falling apart and the media is now no where to be seen. They ran in, gave us all the sensational headlines possible, showed the pictures of the accused players, destroyed the team, then disappeared when it started to look like the sensationalism might not be there.
Again, I don’t know what happened. But if nothing happened, where will these young men go to get their reputations back?
The Weekend
We had a good Memorial Day weekend. I’ve been promising to take Christy to the beach for some time, but we haven’t had a chance. Between my flying back and forth to DC and everything else going on, the beach will have to wait.
At the end of June, I’ll be taking Evelyn to Memphis for a family get together — my brother-in-law is retiring from the Navy. It’s a big to do. Christy can’t leave because that is the last Friday that she and her boss are in their office. Then, we’ll be gone the first week of July. For the five years that we have been married, we have not been to Christy’s families’ reunion in Illinois. With Evelyn here now, we decided we’d take a big road trip.
We’ll head to Illinois, then down to Memphis to see my oldest sister and her family, then to Mississippi to see my middle sister and her family, then on to Louisiana to see my parents, and finally back to Carrollton, GA to take Christy to very long scheduled doctor’s appointment. It will be a whirlwind trip.
Ah, summer is upon us and the highway beckons.

Evelyn At Home
Home from San Antonio and Carrollton. Evenlyn gets to stay home with me today. She’s been teething really bad. She got very little sleep last night. She was up all night coughing and drooling.
This morning I’ve introduced her to the refrigerator teething ring. She seems more interested in throwing it and yelling “uh-oh” than actually using it.
Ghosts in the Woods
This is a really neat article by Heather Duncan. Growing up in Louisiana, my grandparents’ yard was filled with Chinese Chestnut trees. I’ve been stabbed by the stickers many times.
I’ve never seen an American Chestnut tree.
Caring for Shellfish
This is dumb. I love the logic of the shoppers that the shellfish are going to get killed and eaten anyway, so who really cares if they are kept alive in the store.
When will the madness end? It’s a freaking lobster. It’s nervous system is as developed as a housefly’s. Should we not kill the common housefly?
These people are idiots.
Christian In the Social Sense
According to Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, that is how Castro describes himself. Maybe one day the Cuban people will rise up and drive the monster into the sea, or at least put his head on a pike.
Then we can do the same to Chavez.
Remember the Alamo
I have been in San Antonio for the Connect Conference — a cooperative conference put on by Touchstone Energies. I talked about blogging yesterday. Then I had a very long flight home.
San Antonio is a beautiful, beautiful city. The riverwalk was amazing. I found the artists cooperative on the riverwalk and bought a nice pottery cross for the house. It was made of local clay and had a turquoise glaze on it. It was very pretty.
The food was fantastic and the people were friendly.
And, there were actually trees.
