Ruminations from inside the vast right wing conspiracy.

To the Beach

Christy and I are taking Evelyn to the beach for the first time. It will also be our first vacation in several years. Though I am no great fan of the beach, I am looking forward to it. I bought the first two book in the Patrick O’Brian set of books — Master & Commander being the first. I loved the movie, which was based on a summary of the whole set of books. Several people have told me the books are great.

I look forward to it.

In the Paper

I made the paper. This is from the syndication wire, so it will show up in your local paper, probably.

“The left can very easily find out which earmarks Halliburton is involved with, and the right can find out which earmarks Planned Parenthood is involved with,” said Erick Erickson of conservative RedState.com.

“When you have InstaPundit and RedState, some of the most influential conservative bloggers, working with (left-leaning) DailyKos, that’s sort of a powerful grassroots alliance,” said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor.

Happy First Birthday!

Evelyn had her first birthday party this weekend. She did not care for the cake so much, but she really liked the ice cream.

One Year

Hard to believe that Evelyn is a year old. Here she is yesterday crawling to supper.

The Enemy Within

This is disturbing, but I hope this guy keeps saying stuff like this loudly so every American can see the left for who they are.

What if another terror attack just before this fall’s elections could save many thousand-times the lives lost?

I start from the premise that there is already a substantial portion of the electorate that tends to vote GOP because they feel that Bush has “kept us safe,” and that the Republicans do a better job combating terrorism.

If an attack occurred just before the elections, I have to think that at least a few of the voters who persist in this “Bush has kept us safe” thinking would realize the fallacy they have been under.

If 5% of the “he’s kept us safe” revise their thinking enough to vote Democrat, well, then, the Dems could recapture the House and the Senate and be in a position to:

Block the next Supreme Court appointment, one which would surely result in the overturning of Roe and the death of hundreds if not thousands of women from abortion-prohibiting states at the hands of back-alley abortionists;

Be in a position to elevate the party’s chances for a regime change in 2008. A regime change that would:

Save hundreds of thousands of American lives by enacting universal health care;

Save untold numbers of lives by pushing for cleaner air standards that would greatly reduce heart and lung diseases;

More enthusiastically address the need for mass transit, the greater availability of which would surely cut highway deaths;

Enact meaningful gun control legislation that would reduce crime and cut fatalities by thousands a year;

Fund stem cell research that could result in cures saving millions of lives;

Boost the minimum wage, helping to cut down on poverty which helps spawn violent crime and the deaths that spring from those acts;

Be less inclined to launch foolish wars, absence of which would save thousands of soldiers’ lives- and quite likely moderate the likelihood of further terror acts.

Absurd

This is a bit too much to stomach. The government is trying to save lives and the airlines intend to sue. Good grief.

Spanish Sesame Street

Evelyn is home today. She was running fever in daycare late yesterday. Of course, by 8pm last night she was perfectly fine. This morning we’re watching Sesame Street — her first time. She is engrossed. And Grover is teaching spanish words. When did this happen?

Are We Surprised

Israel accepts the UN Resolution, Lebanon accepts the UN Resolution, Iran questions why Hezbollah should disarm, and Hezbollah says it will not disarm.

Couldn’t see that one coming, now could we?

  • RedState

    RedState is my full time job. It is the largest right of center blogging community on the internet. It's also the most widely read right of center blog on Capitol Hill and most quoted right of center blog in the media. Check it out at www.redstate.com

  • Peach Pundit

    In 2006, my friend Clayton asked if I wanted to start a horse race style blog of Georgia politics. It evolved into a site that tries to cover the state objectively, without just being a place to mouth off the party line. It's been a fun release to get away from right wing activism and just cover politics as a hobby. Check it out at www.peachpundit.com

  • Blog Macon

    The site you are reading and this site suffer the most from my blog overkill. Blog Macon covers the news in Macon and Bibb County. Check it out at www.blogmacon.com
